As someone who plays the violin and have also been part of my college orchestra, I probably should not rate this movie an 8/10 because of the obvious fake playing throughout the film. That said, I'm also torn between complimenting the editing since they could have edited to make the fake playing less obnoxious but at the same time the scene cuts are just really well-timed for comedy and just over-all visual experience.
The film is very innocent as its protagonist is. And shows us a story of how one aspiring musician is caught up in this larger drama of two men and their hostile past. Instead of being in one of their shoes, we are taken outside of someone who incidentally connects the two.
It's hilarious and heart-warming.
SPOILER-FREE REVIEW
I went into this blind. And I'm glad I did.
The story is really memorable to me and the non-linear storytelling was well-used. I never knew what story I was going to be given next but it all mostly flowed naturally. It was the right amount of suspense and predictability for me.
Sure, it might seem pretentious as some critics have claimed but I think the cast and the director did a great job in making the characters believable. There were moments that made me think this was based on a true story just because of how a lot of the characters were so sincere.
I liked how it was shot and edited. Every shot showed me an emotion, information, and made me want to watch the movie till the end.
I think I'm giving this movie a 9/10, which some might say more than it deserves, because I love watching movies and knowing by the time I finish it that I'm going to remember it for years to come.
REVIEW WITH SPOILERS There are a lot of good messages this film gives if you just know where to look and know how to understand it. The book Sidney Hall wrote (Suburban Tragedy) is, for me, a metaphor of the entire film.

I have been waiting to watch this for a long time and was disappointed. The action scenes were brutal as usual but I felt like they were sloppily executed in terms of choreography and how much meaningless action scenes were added. A sign of a good action scene is if it gets you at the edge of your seat and shows you character/s. Some action scenes just had me so confused if this movie was actually a comedy action movie. I think I liked it better when the action scenes were rougher and more raw. Keanu Reeves still carries John Wick pretty well as a character but some of the fight scenes felt too pretentious. But there were still a lot of pretty cool scenes.
As for the plot, it wsn't as good as the previous two but I was okay with that. When the second movie ended, I had zero idea how they were going to go from there to the next movie. And I felt like they didn't have much idea either.
The first and second act was boring and confusing. The new characters were meh but the third act was okay. Even though this third film wasn't as great as I wanted a John Wick film to be or just a film to be, I'm still looking forward to the next movie and hope that it turns out great not like this. If anything, this film is a good setup for the next one.
