Shot Caller (2017) is a crime thriller movie written and directed by Ric Roman Waugh and it chronicles the transformation of a family man into a hardened prison gangster, which he undergoes to survive California's penal system after he is incarcerated for a deadly DUI car accident. This movie was a first time watch for me and it was pretty good.
Positives for Shot Caller (2017): The story is good for what it's going for. I like the ensemble cast with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Omari Hardwick, Lake Bell, Jon Bernthal, Emory Cohen, Jeffrey Donovan, Evan Jones, Benjamin Bratt, Holt McCallany and Juan Pablo Raba. You get a good progression for Jamie Lannister's character as he becomes this gangster. You get some fun and gory action scenes. And finally, this movie is a nice little hangout movie with some friends and good food.
Negatives for Shot Caller (2017): The story is good, but it feels very generic with the execution. The transformation for Jamie Lannister is strange as it jumps to different points of his life. And finally, the movie feels more like background noise for the most part.
Overall, Shot Caller (2017) is a standard but good enough crime thriller movie from Richard Roman Waugh that gets the job done well enough.

London Has Fallen (2016) is the sequel to Olympus Has Fallen (2013) and the second entry in the Has Fallen movie series and it follows Mike Banning as he must protect Benjamin Asher from terrorists who orchestrated a threat against the G7 during the British Prime Minister's funeral in London. This is a movie that everyone agrees shouldn't exist and we were all right because this movie is freaking trash.
Positives for London Has Fallen (2016): Gerard Butler as Mike Banning, Aaron Eckhart as Benjamin Asher and Morgan Freeman as Allan Trumbull are still good in their respective roles.
Negatives for London Has Fallen (2016): There is no reason for a sequel as the first movie is a Die Hard rip-off and it doesn't have the longevity to sustain a franchise or a main character who is iconic like John McClane. There are special effects that look like they came from the Asylum. You have an arc for Mike Banning that is so predictable that it feels like a bad joke. The terrorists are genericly lame and their leader is a laughably idiotic cartoon. The action sequences are shot horribly that are violent for shock value. And finally, I was bored out of my mind watching this movie.
Overall, London Has Fallen (2016) is an atrocious sequel to one of the better Die Hard rip-off movies and is genuinely one of the worst action thriller movies of all time and I will never rewatch it again.

Olympus Has Fallen (2013) is an action thriller movie directed by Antoine Fuqua which serves as the first entry in the Has Fallen movie series and it follows a Secret Service agent who finds himself trapped inside the White House in the wake of a terrorist attack and works with national security to rescue the President from his kidnappers. This movie was my introduction to Antoine Fuqua as a filmmaker and I got to see it in the theater back in 2013 which is insane because I saw things no kid should've saw, but that doesn't matter because this movie is freaking awesome.
Positives for Olympus Has Fallen (2013): First off, the initial setup and premise are awesome as it is Die Hard in the White House and if you're going to steal something from an action movie, it had better be Die Hard (1988). The movie does a great at introducing us to the characters and telling us their motivations. You have an insane ensemble cast consisting of Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett, Robert Forster, Cole Hauser, Finley Jacobsen, Ashley Judd, Melissa Leo, Dylan McDermott, Radha Mitchell and Rick Yune. Gerard Butler is really good as Mike Banning, who is a good man and will do anything to save the president no matter the cost. Rick Yune is such a despicable jackass as Kang Yeonsak and I wanted to beat the crap out of him every time he did evil stuff. The action sequences are quite brutal and graphic with the imagery that is hard to watch, but you can't look away because you need to see it for yourself. The movie is paced surprisingly well with the runtime as everything pops on screen for the most part and keeps your full attention. And finally, this is one of those hangout action movies that you can enjoy with some friends and good food.
Mixed for Olympus Has Fallen (2013): The movie is just Die Hard (1988), but not as good as that movie. Whiel Rick Yune does a great job in the movie, Kang Yeonsak doesn't pop off and he is a lesser version of Hans Gruber.
Overall, Olympus Has Fallen (2013) is an awesome action thriller movie from Antoine Fuqua as it has everything I want from these types of movies and it should've been a one-off movie, not a franchise.
