  • Rehash of Films and Not a Family Film

The film isn't terrible but add it to the list of other Jurassic Park movies that are forgotten. Frustratingly it follows similar characters and storylines to past Jurassic Park movies. It was entertaining at times, but don't be surprised if things are eerily familiar to past Jurassic Park movies. There were plenty of scenes where the audience will think, "haven't I seen this before?" It had a museum character who was a combination of the paleontologist and Jeff Goldblum's character from the first film. It had a family trying to survive on the island and growing closer together through the fear of being eaten alive like the third film. The film was similar to Kong Skull Island where you have a strong female character and your token black guy trying to survive an island full of dangerous exotic creatures. It had mercenaries similar to the second film. It had a helicopter scene similar to Jaws 2. The writing in Hollywood is just getting lazy at this point. There were plenty of scary moments but they were all too similar to past films. The excessive gore made it not appropriate for a younger audience, part of your key demographic. Seeing people get eaten or turn to blood splatter is only fun for the hardcore zombie fans. It's just another film that years from now will occasionally show on cable but be largely forgotten.

  • Directionless Mess

This show starts out as a mystery show. It then takes several episodes to try and figure out what is going on, who are the main characters, what is the point. The mystery then moves on to aliens more advanced and things really go off the rails. First, most of the characters are obnoxious self absorbed scientists that think they know everything and then struggle when an alien species knows more. Several problems come up and are never really explained or resolved. Apparently the aliens can do everything, see everything, do anything just to move the plot forward as humans try to make sense of it and come up with a plan. It became easy to like a character one moment and despise them the next. This show became another case of too much exposition on one character and not enough on another. It moves from one clue that leads to another clue, to making no sense at all. Early episodes are an 8, as patience with story building is given, then trails off as the unbelievable becomes more common and the story becomes a mess. It wastes too much time explaining one thing only to not explain another. By the last episode it reaches a conclusion that more is on the way. This definitely seemed to be a show written by several writers all wanting to go in different directions with plot, characters, and ideas, then someone tried to get this mess of a story to work. What ends up happening is it's another directionless mess. Basics in writing such as building a story with each episode , engaging characters, having a direction and purpose, are done so haphazardly that it suffers from confusing its audience. It felt like the writers got high and felt every idea was a good idea. A perfect example of this disaster of a story is the whole 3 body problem from which the title originates has little to do with the actual story. It's just a starting point of a directionless mess. Too many writers going in different directions makes this show another trash heap. The potential of a good story is there, but poor directionless writing gets in its own way.
