I was trying to put my finger on why I find this movie riveting. I usually don't enjoy violent slow-paced (well, slow-paced for awhile) movies where the audience doesn't have many answers upfront (or ever). Then I realized I identified with Jennifer's character feeling like she has no control whatsoever, even when the person/people making the decisions are complete idiotic aholes. That frustration and utter depletion that comes from feeling like you're in Twilight Zone episode where crazy people rule over the sane was much of the first part of my life - I felt like I was in bizarro land. So, if you grew up in such a family, you'll either feel seen (or you'll be triggered by this movie). I'm usually not impressed by Jennifer's performances, but she was amazing in this film.
The show description is wrong - the show is not about 20-somethings but rather two 34yo women. I mean, they both say their ages at various times in the series, how can they get this wrong? One of my favorite comedies ever. Great guest actors, too.
