I watched "Bad Moon' back in 1996 when it came out on a Pulse Global VCD, and loved every bit of it! I am a huge wildlife/werewolf aficionado and this movie catered to both of my interests in generous doses! The best feature of the movie for me is the beautiful wilderness depicted in the pacific Northwest (British Columbia), and the foreboding opening title music. I also greatly enjoyed the scientific and mythological background discussed as far as the werewolf/lycanthropy is concerned. Mariel Hemingway is masculine but sexy, Michael Pare' conveyed the "animal within" vibes perfectly and menacingly well, the kid was alright and yes! The real hero of the movie is the German shepherd all the way through! I owned a German shepherd and a Dalmatian together at one time, and could testify to their protective instincts and ability to pick on cues and vibes humans can't by far. This is one good werewolf flick, do watch it!
This series had me hooked and glued to my recliner every night on cold December nights! The fact that these really happened and the amount of twisted love and cunning manipulation involved sent shivers down my spine. People keep on glorifying the virtues and grandiosity of so-called love, but this makes you realize how a supposedly noble and beautiful emotion can turn deadly and violent in no time whatsoever. The excess of anything is not good, including love. The actors did fine, though the real characters were younger and better looking in some episodes :) I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in true crime and exploration of the darker side of human psychology.
I tremendously enjoyed this movie! Wonderful atmosphere all the way from Seventeenth Century England to 1972 America, exquisite locales, mansions/castles, period costumes, even Alice Cooper pops up! Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, all do justice to their roles. The movie kept me engaged and entertained throughout. Wonderful piece of art and storytelling, Watch and enjoy!
