No one is doing stand up like this out there. It's childlike yet, smart as hell. His ongoing narratives of inanimate objects are informed by the same dumb insecurities, neuroses and delusions of grandeur that we all succumb to in modern life... except, its a sink! Or a cactus. Or a truly random shape. ( my favorite shape was : "Tilda Swinton's apartment"). And of course, "Los Espookys" is a must-watch.

  • Great short makes DVD worth rental for 'Mr. Show' fans

This short comes with the DVD "Melvin Goes To Dinner" and is essential viewing for the Odenkirk completest. For those who found the accompanying feature not representative of the 'Mr. Show' sensibility, this short makes up for it as a "mockumentary" of the submission of the feature film to Frank's personal film festival which seems to occur in his parent's rec-room. The short is played very straight and subsequently hilarious when Blieden and White get into a fight over winning the heart of Frank's grandma, Beatrice. Other choice moments include winning every award and bunking up in Frank's bedroom. Odenkirk would be well served by making more of these as he and David Cross so often did during Mr. Show. Highly recommended.
