This film really succeeds in drawing you in. Intriguing yet somewhat disturbing. Interesting story, good acting, and very atmospheric. I felt like I was there, experiencing the film with the characters.
I was very impressed by how it was done. It was like I was "reading" it. Definitely worth a watch. The film takes place in a hot, sweaty location and I really felt like I needed a shower halfway through the film - they really make you feel like you're there.
I don't think I've ever seen Olympia Dukakis play such a role. She really was that character!
We need more films like these. I keep watching this one!

This is an incredibly good film. The setting, the characters, the storyline (or storylines) the costumes, direction, etc. I can't say enough good things about this. You feel like you're there - it's like you're one of the guests at the estate and then you're one of the servants. You're just drawn into the film!
The late great Maggie Smith steals the show in this one! Which is no easy task because there isn't one character - from major to minor - that doesn't excel in their role.
The opening was very atmospheric and drew me in - I felt like it was raining and I was being driven to an estate. Yes, it's one of those films.
