The production values are high, looking similar to the Peter Jackson movies. The acting and story are surprisingly on par. High praise for the small screen budget, large as it may plan to be. Much like the movies though, I find the light-hearted peace-loving small race's storyline to be the glacial parts that you slog through. There are plenty of a-ha moments in the last episode but characters act out of characterizations established within the series just to arrive to the established lore. As such, instead of an 8 or 9, the last entry brought down my overall score. Will still check out future seasons, but don't have as high hopes anymore, notwithstanding the planned movie continuations from the competing studio.
Medical situations are made up by showmakers without medical knowledge. The writers slap together their medical readings to create story situations. Someone recommended the show to me, asking if what they enjoy so much is true to life. No, too preposterous to suspend my disbelief to enjoy other parts of the show (the melodrama) and I doubt I would have enjoyed the latter anyway.
Corny jokes, uninteresting powers, boring & prefictable plot. Worst movie I ever finished watching. Would be in the so-bad-its-good genre but doesn't work that way either.
