I just watched this film today, and while the scenes where they show "authentic" footage from around the world was interesting to see (if maybe not 100% accurate), the entire film was ruined by the "low-brow" Italian comedians Franco & Ciccio. Franco especially mugged and overacted to a degree that I've never seen before in my entire life; he made Jerry Lewis at his worst look like he was on horse tranquilizers in comparison. Jayne doesn't exactly do a great job of acting herself either. She comes off as her generation's version of Anna Nicole Smith. So, I wouldn't recommend getting the Something Weird DVD this appears on (along with Mondo Balardo) as Balardo isn't worth seeing, and like I said, the painful comedy ruins Primitive Love.
When I watched this film as a little kid when it was on TV, I thought it was pretty bad, and that was when I enjoyed watching stuff like Howard the Duck!
When I finally saw this film again, this time on a VHS tape that was the original release of the movie, I discovered that this was one of the worst films I've ever seen. No kidding.
When you have a great cast like this, and you attach a script that was seemingly written for 8 year olds (or at least those people that think like 8 year olds) with its level of "humor", it is quite sad, especially when I laughed only once... and that was due to the chimp! That's right, the funniest "person" in this movie is the orangutan. Under no circumstances should you ever see this picture.

First off, I have to admit that the story to Beware: Children at Play isn't bad. I mean, some of the plot points are unique, and it's at least nice not to see the same assembly-line horror plot that you'd see in a bigger-budget movie. Yet, the low-budget ultimately ruins the movie. Sure, you'd expect the acting to not be up to par, but in this movie, the thespian work is really bad. It's on the level of skin flicks. Also, the special effects, for the most part, are even worse than what you'd find in a B-movie. It's more like what you'd expect from a recent film-school graduate. As other people have mentioned, the movie does have many boring points. The ending, while nice, isn't good enough to warrant a recommendation on my part. So, I can't say that I'll ask people to see this flick.
