This is, overall, the tried and true formula of "Say Yes to the Dress" so there's not a lot to say about that - 3 dresses, discussion about what it means, etc..
Having said that, I love the diversity of brides - and much as in Queer Eye, I absolutely love how respectful Tan is and how he meets each bride where they are...and sees them as they are (sometimes before the bride sees for her/themselves) with no judgement.
-------------------------------------------- In short, I really enjoyed this version of the long running original. I watched all 8 episodes in one sitting and I hope to see more.

I cannot recommend this enough. Sure, it's about men in prison - many who will spend the rest of their lives there, who make peraonal quilts for foster kids that they will never meet. But what it's really about is how the mistakes we make, even when big, aren't necessarily who we are and don't have to define our lives. None of these men excuse their crimes, and they shouldn't - the overriding sentiment of all of them is, "I make no excuses", but they've chosen not to be defined by what they did and to try to do what they can to bring some light to others.
On an artistic level (and quilt making IS an art) these men take their craft VERY seriously; and their specialties reflect their strengths (the man who always does butterflies because that is his mom to him). They truly are amazing artisans.
In any case, I highly recommend taking 30 minutes of your day to watch this short documentary. My only complaint is I wish it was longer...and I hope Fred was given a second chance and was allowed back.

I didn't hate this movie, but I did think it was disjointed. It was trying too hard to be Encanto and Frozen and lost it's own potential in the effort. The music, while enjoyable, didn't have continuity. It was at turns both pop/melodic and then musical theater and never found steady footing - like 5 different people were asked to write songs without any consultation between them about what was being written...the flow was lost. The characters and the story didn't have much backstory and we don't know why...why anything really. Why didn't the king grant more wishes? What was the bad thing that happened? We get almost no context for anything and that leaves the whole storyline afloat.
But the biggest crime of this movie is that it wasn't a better vehicle for Ariana DeBose. She has an absolutely STUNNING voice and I felt like it was just wasted here (see also, the Queen) - a voice like that deserved a movie that showcased her voice, and I just feel like this missed the mark.
In short. I'm not mad at it but I am glad I waited for it to stream and didn't spend money in the theater.
