  • Interesting at least. . .

I didn't know what to expect from this film when I watched it, but I was vastly amused. If you like the Monty Python variety of British comedy, and the Nightmare on Elm Street type of horror, you should check this movie out. It doesn't really make sense or have any sort of real plot, but hey, what the hell does? Overall, an amusing horror film, made me laugh more than a few times.

  • A look at 'Dagon' from a Lovecraft readers point of View.

This is quite possibly the best H. P. Lovecraft film I have ever seen. It is a fairly good cinematic adaption of "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", not the short story "Dagon". I'd have to say the only thing that would have made this film better was no computer animation, because it was very mediocre cg, and almost ruined the movie for me. Compared to other films which are inspired by H. P. Lovecraft, not based on his works, like their titles proclaim, it is superb. Other decent Lovecraft films include The Reanimator, From Beyond, Necronomicon, and The Dunwich Horror. While these are not bad movies (Well, The Dunwich horror is terrible. . ) they are not true the the Lovecraft titles they boast. The 'fish-men' or children of the deep ones are extremely well done, especially the chase seen in the movie. Superbly Lovecraftian. While it smashed the Cthulhu Mythos in with The Shadow Over Innsmouth, the lovecraftian chanting is prefectly in place. The actors are very good, especially the main character, who behaves somewhat like Bruce Campbell's character in Army of Darkness (Hail AOD!) and is somewhat comical at times. The direction is well done, the special effects are great, except for the computer generated images, and all in all, it is a good movie. If you know who H. P. Lovecraft is, good for you. If you don't, you probably shouldn't. P.S.- Do NOT see Cthulhu Mansion under ANY circumstance.
