I so expected to hate this film. I had very low expectations for this film. People here on IMDb seem to hate it with a passion. I hardly see anyone talk about it. So when I decided to rent the movie ..I thought to myself ..Why should I rent this one? then I realized because I like renting all types of horror films ..the good the bad and the ugly. And because I had nothing else to do that Friday night.
The premises of Undead is meteors and what seems to be burning water rains from the sky on a small Austrialian town turning people into vicious zombies. Let me just put it out there.. if you are looking for a scary zombie movie... rent Night of the Living Dead 68'. But if you are looking for a very comical outlook on the zombie genre .. rent Shaun of the Dead ...then rent Undead.
I found myself laughing and found myself very into this movie. The movie is not high and mighty great by any standards and the movie feels like you are on acid sometimes but it's very enjoyable and it's a fun rental. My favorite character out of them all is of course Marion. He is this gun tooting slinging guy that could be Neo's (Matrix) side kick if he was asked to. Take a shot and rent it if you have not yet.

I heard of High Tension before. It came out last summer but for some reason the trailer never really caught my attention enough to go out and see it. I thought the synopsis sounded interesting but I figured this is a movie more suited to be viewed on DVD than in theaters. I rented High Tension one weekend and this movie is the answer to the question many horror fans always ask ... "Where are the bloody horror films?". If you are looking for a bloody interesting horror film. High Tension may be your prescription.

Maybe I am being a little too harsh here ...at least 24 minutes of it is worthy. Wolf Creek which is supposedly based on a true story is about 3 friends go backpacking/driving in the Austrailian outback and comes across an sadistic serial killer.
I finally rented Wolf Creek but I wanted to see it in theaters in December but I passed on it and I am very lucky I did. If I got bored watching this film on DVD ..then I would had fell asleep or decided to walk out if I saw it in theaters. Let me just say it plain and simple ..this movie is boring. Not even the last 24-30 minutes or so can make up for the first nothingness of the first hour.
There are two types of horror films. One that gets into the action right away and one is where we get to know the characters for awhile which builds tension and then the pay off is big when the action starts. Wolf Creek is along the lines of building character development first and then the action began. But it failed tremendously. Why? Because even though I got to know these 3 for an hour. I still could give a crap about any of them. Second, there is no character development at all. If character development is driving, eating, kissing, sleeping on the beach ..then give me a pen and paper I will write a horror screenplay.
All there is to the first hour is nothing. Nothing interesting. Nothing that I can remember that would make the second half more significant. This movie makes us wait an hour for any action to began and when it does happen. It is not all that great. I am not someone that has to have action in a horror film within the first 5 minutes. I love horror films that build character but Wolf Creek (and I will say it again) has NO character development. I don't know the three anymore towards the end than I did from the start. This film was definitely a let down.
