The single most mentioned point is a gimmick. Why would an episode filmed in one shot be better? Let me rephrase that: why would an episode that has given up editing to set pacing, select best shots, experimenting with different versions of a scene and in stead is one single "good enough" shot be better? Can we do without the Oscar for best film editing from now on? Asking the question answers the question.
Next problem: the american style SWAT team arrest. Yeah, no. That was the first time I stopped watching. About 4 mins in.
I later tried again, but never got anywhere near a "10-star" level enthusiasm.
Low on realism, high on gimmick-ness. And high on scaring parents with that-could-have-been-my-child fears.

If you are like me and watch things on Netflix, here's something I wish Netflix had told me before I started watching: it does not have the 5th season, and it is very unlikely it will acquire the rights in the future. You'll get drawn in with season 1-4, and then find yourself thinking: wait, this is it? Where's the rest?? Nothing is resolved, nothing is wrapped up.
Well, you'll have to go somewhere else for the rest. Where that is depends on where you live.
As for the series itself, there is very little to say that hasn't already been said. Yes, seasons after 1 & 2 are not as good, but it's not such big change as to lose my interest. Certainly good enough foe me to wish I could see season 5.

While not some absolute masterpiece, the movie is entertaining enough to watch. A bit of a slow burn, and ofc no CGI, explosions and alien space ships, but there were no moments where I was bored. I was drawn in, and kept in.
A weakness is likely the sudden change of PoV that also goes back in time.
I'm somewhat confused by other reviews talking about unanswered questions. While the answers are not as in-your-face as your typical brain-dead hollywood production, they definitely are there. It had me thinking about what had happened long after the movie had ended, and I like that.
One thing I can not answer, and am curious if someone else can tell me, is the buma thing. There is no "boogey mann" in german, nothing that leads to the person Carla meant. So what did the bu mann refer to?
