Saturday morning. After a long work week, you've escaped the city. You arrived in your village house last night; nature is blooming, birds are chirping, and the neighbor is roasting peppers. You take a deep breath - comfort, freedom, and warmth. It's nice, you feel at home.
That's the feeling "Because I Love Bad Weather" leaves me with. Director Yana Lekarska immerses us in a skillfully recreated narrative about love, childhood nostalgia, present choices and the unpredictability of the future.
The film follows the story of Irina and Boris (played by Neda Spasova and Vladimir Mihaylov), friends who haven't seen each other in over twenty years and now coincidentally find themselves in the same seaside town where they spent their summers as children.
The cinematography of "Because I Love Bad Weather" is impressive; the film is beautifully shot, by the remarkable Mladen Minev. We dive into the vast beauty of our southern Black Sea coast, the charmingly nostalgic idyllic vision of old houses and the small rural shops where time seems to have stopped.
And all this against the backdrop of beautiful Bulgarian songs, which are wonderfully selected and truly complement the story.
I highly recommend this movie! It absolutely proves that valuable Bulgarian films continue to be made by young and talented people. Congratulations to the team!
