Någonstans i Sverige means "Somewhere in Sweden", and was the very indifferent address of drafted men serving for the defense in Sweden during World War II. This TV series is based on the very famous Swedish journalist/writer Jan-Olov Olsson's novel with the same title. The series follows a handful of drafted men during the war, and at the same time gives a quite, but open-hearted portrayal of influential persons of World history, like Hitler, Churchill, and F.D. Roosevelt.
As an aviation buff, this is one of my favorite movies. Besides telling the story of the Mercury program in a humorous, tounge-in-cheek way, it also features some very breath-taking flying scenes, that are right on the spot. But I want to warn you, that Warner Bros Video has issued this film on DVD in a shortened version. The original version is 193 minutes, while this DVD version is only 153 minutes. Among the missing 20 minutes are a few of the best scenes of the original movie.
