  • More of a time capsule than the original version.

I get that the Twilight Zone series as a concept is very reactionary; taking the concerns of the shows time periods and presenting them in alternate forms, but the original run, along with the 80-90's version seemed to have a much more deft hand in writing. to compare: look at the original version of "The Monsters are due on Maple Street" when compared to the 2002 remake. they're both running along similar lines, but the remake is much less subtle, and much deeper rooted in reactionary paranoia.

it's interesting to see the twilight zone updated for the times, but the writing needs to be savvier, and take more care to lay out it's story's morals. I do hope they do another run of the series in the next ten years or so. Over all 7/10, needed work to give it longevity, but does well capturing that sense of the world at the start of the millennium.

  • an innovative take on the classic Sitcom format

Upon watching the first few seasons of this series I must say it's a refreshing take on the sitcom format of "Everyone gather in the living room to joke and discuss a topic" of the pre-millenial period that dominated television. This new structure of replacing the upscale open concept living room with the cramped confines of a vehicle simultaneously highlight the emphasis of modern life on 'car culture' and also the growing disconnect people have with the traditional 'home' roles. it's a stunningly brilliant move to place the 4th wall in the windshield area, simple yet effective replacing the television of the traditional set-up. the characters work well together, and the writing is realistic, if not overly so. and there's a solid sense of series continuity. however there is room to improve in cinematography, and choice of location; it can be difficult to see all members of the cast at times. also the cast does need to on occasion rehearse a bit more before committing the scenes to film.

A good show, if flawed. Also it needs more Lloyd.

  • Just painful

This is quintessentially the worst film i've ever seen. the pacing was so slow it was going backwards. the comedy in the film was duller than stagnant dishwater. the characters did less than nothing. and the subtitles would pick up on everyone's conversations instead of what was important.

then there was the restaurant scene. THE GOD DAMN RESTAURANT SCENE. KNOW WHEN TO END YOUR SCENES MOVIE. this moment in the film dragged on forever. it also teased me horribly giving me hope that the place would burn down and end the film on a happy note. but no it frustrated even on this level.

This film is so bad we should bury it under the ET video game cartridges.
