  • Maybe a laugh track would help?

Like most folks, I don't know why THE BEAR is categorized as a comedy. Perhaps they thought they'd have a better chance at Emmys when not pitted against shows in the drama category. But it was a decent drama for a while...

For me THE BEAR went from 7 to 9 to 2 stars, depending on the season/episode. I've seen 2 episodes of Season 3 and it is unbearable.

The directors and scriptwriters are trying to squeeze a lot of "acting" out of the actors, and it ain't working. Only Ebon Moss-Bachrach has the chops to withstand the camera's scrutiny in this department.

It's unrealistic and annoying to have so many characters discussing their emotions and giving each other strokes. An episode where this is NOT done, and where a character develops through action and good acting is the excellent "Forks" episode.

I admit I don't care for romance, but I hate it in this show, ie, the Carmy/Claire relationship. There is no evidence of how this relationship works, plus there doesn't seem to be any chemistry between the two actors.

Any character who respects Natalie should not call her "Sugar," owing to the humiliating experience that resulted in this nickname. Also: Since when does a recipe call for a cup of salt????

The Faks aren't funny and they don't contribute. Axe them.

Enough of the food porn. Foodies should be out eating this stuff if they're so enamored of artistic plating.

I'm thinking of watching the rest of season 3 by adding a laugh track to the audio. Perhaps at least it would be entertaining that way.

  • It was great until Season 6

I binge watched LA Law through Season 5 over the span of a few weeks. (I found that I could just listen to it, and got as much out of it as watching it.) The acting was great and the writing mostly great for those seasons. Am I the only one who liked Diana Muldaur as Roslyn Shays? She was spectacular; I loved how her presence affected everyone on staff differently. Larry Drake was a fantastic Benny. Binge watching did underscore, though, how yelly the litigators were.

With Season 6 came a lot of drama and overemotional scenes plus hack writing. I'm assuming it just gets worse, so I'm not continuing.
