Wedding Cake is a lovely animation. It is fresh, funny and well designed. I believe the director was very clever to balance romance and realism. The marzipan figurines are well rounded to depict the ups and downs of a relationship. A must watch short movie for animation fans !!
As described by the author, Wedding Cake is a film that shows the bitter-sweet way in which every day routine and the entropy of relationships. The metaphor of the "perfect marriage crafted out of a wedding cake" represented by the two marzipan figures is very clever. They are part of the happiest moment, or the symbol of the wedding ceremony. But, in real life not many people would remember later their lives as the small couple symbolized during the wedding. It shows how relationships need constant effort, dedication and attention.
