Sophie is a complete and utter chore of a woman. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why this guy would tether himself to someone who is so immensely self-absorbed, vapid, boring and utterly aimless. All she ever does is criticize the very life she married into. Then she tries to change the lives of everybody else around her. Then she expects everyone to conform to whatever she thinks things need to be. This is a joyless and exceedingly irritating character and I only came here less than 20 minutes into the movie to say that. So we'll see if she manages to change my mind and if she does I'll be back here to edit, but for now we need to just off Sophie. I mean seriously he needs to let her go and just find somebody better.
I can't possibly be the only person who is highly irritated by the appalling cinematography. It seems as though whoever is handling the camera can't sit still or stand still or just basically keep the camera on whoever is talking without shaking it about as if we're all supposed to believe that this is incredibly necessary. I don't know. I just know that it's dizzying to see the camera moving in ways that is completely unnecessary for what's happening on the screen or supposedly happening. The characters are all wholly unlikable and some of what they talk about doesn't even truly make sense. It's an unrealistic set up but somehow one continues to hate watch.
Where do I begin? The premise of the story had so much hope. One could almost overlook the two hideous wigs on the two lead characters. One could overlook the thin storyline. One could overlook, possibly, that tremendous amount of overacting. One however could not overlook all of the above.
One character spends most of the movie with facial contortions of either anguish or distress and then they're crying then they're shouting then they're screaming and crying. The other one spends more time just throwing f-bombs and then doing her facial contortions and a lot of overacting. In the end even the supporting characters were so weak. Save yourself the hassle of watching this and just find something else.
