I just this moment finished the series finale and find myself SO SAD to be done with Catherine Cawood and everyone else in a very UNHAPPY valley! This was a tough watch at times... brutal, heavy, heartbreaking... but one the best shows I've ever seen. I cannot get over the twists and turns and connections in the writing and the acting, especially by Sarah Lancashire is truly superb! This show had me on the edge of my seat too many times to count. It had me in tears, both happy and sad. Sally Wainwright is quite simply a genius. If I could change something I'd want maybe 30 more minutes for the final episode. Heck, even 15 might have been enough to make it feel a little less hurried. But that's a nitpick on a truly outstanding show.
Hands down the best of this year and quite possibly my new all-time favorite Hallmark movie. I am biased because Tyler Hynes and Bethany Joy Lenz are, in my opinion, two of the very best actors to have ever been on this channel. Paul Campbell is another favorite because he is always so funny and he wrote the script. This movie is SO FUNNY. It's smart and fun and witty and charming and just ridiculously delightful. It does not hurt at all that Tyler Hynes is impossibly handsome. Almost distractingly so. I still managed to pay attention to the movie in spite of this. It is pretty much perfect and I can't wait to watch it again.
What a beautiful movie! It's fun, romantic, sexy, and heartbreaking. Like many women born in 1970, I liked Scott Baio before I saw this movie, now I LOVE him. He does a fantastic job in this film. All of the performances are good - Rosemary Prinz as Bella is superb. Melissa Martin's screenplay and direction are first rate. Even though you'll cry (and you will cry, unless you have a heart of stone), this is one of those genuine, life-affirming, feel-good movies that do not come along too often. Do yourself a favor and see this movie, then tell all of your friends to do the same.
