Everything about this film is amazing. It turns what is usually portrayed as a gory, blood-soaked slasher theme into a spine-tingling fairytale, far superior to any other Dracula remake available. Saturated with a feeling of melancholy and dripping with rich performances from a talented cast who are each in their realm, particularly Kinski and the stunning Isabelle Adjani who deliver performances that should have won Oscar's. Nosferatu the Vampyre is the finest piece of European horror I have ever seen.

Naked Souls was described on it's cover as an explicitly erotic thriller, something it is definetly not. It's just the kind of thriller that's made to cash in on Pamela's assets and the kind of wasteful slop you expect to run really late on Monday night television. Still, it does dabble in some really interesting themes and has some surprising plot twists which lift it above the usual B-grade standard. The performances by what could be called a respectable B-grade cast aren't too bad. Krause captures his character quite well, and Dean Stockwell and Pamela Anderson aren't bad in their underused (yes Pamela is underused AGAIN!) supporting roles. Definately NOT an exceptional piece of work, but a vaguely entertaining piece of dismal thriller all the same.

I've always been a sucker for Femme Fatale films, and this could have been an extremely good one, but falls flat. Two of this B-grade thriller's biggest problems are it's complete lack of any suspenseful action and intrigue and it's pitiful budget. The performances aren't bad, but I hate how Pamela was undeniably exploited and underused in her role as a blonde beauty with amnesia. A few interesting themes are used to give the film a cheap feeling of mysticism, but definately nothing substantial.
