"Unter Umständen verliebt" is a movie which is really worth watching. This is mainly caused by the two main characters - the very lovely Mirjam Weichselbraun (I'm sure everybody falls in love with her on an instant) and Oliver Wnuk, who one would like to have as his best buddy. The chemistry between them works from the first moment on. But the whole cast is brilliant, except for maybe Rolf Scheider, who's a fun guy though, but is acting was a bit poorly. So I can recommend it sadly only for German speaking movie lovers. This is one of those rare movies where you can see that the whole team had a fun time shooting it and that this fun had been transferred to the audience to a 100%.
I watched the film (dubbed into German) yesterday in Berlin and this is by far the most beautiful movie, I've seen in decades! An excellent cast, an outstanding script, breathtaking photography and direction and great music makes watching 'Le nom des gens' a lifetime experience!! You can cry, you can laugh, you can think about your own family's past and you can remember a lot of the things that happened in the film from your own life!! Once again did the French prove, that they are the only filmmakers out there, who have the sense for that 'certain something'! When the credits appear, you feel like you have to watch the film over and over again.
I wanted to watch this movie, 'cause I usually like the actors and the genre. But here, I really got disappointed. First thing I noticed and shook my head - the haircut of Sam Worthington. Everyone else had long hair, but it looks like Perseus found a hairdresser back then, who cut his hair exactly a couple of inches. Great! Why didn't all the other persons go there?? He would have been the perfect actor for this role, if he had just a bit more courage and less vanity. Okay, here are some déjà vus now. The battle with the scorpions reminded me a lot of "Starship Troopers". When they all walked the whole way to the witches, it was "Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring". And where I had to laugh out loud was the scene where Sam Worthington flew Pegasus! This scene was absolutely "Avatar", fun fact - he rode the Banshee there!!! They could have made more out of it, but the final result was quite devastating. Well, at least for me.
