I am sure this film was made with great care and love, BUT what it lacked the most of, in my opinion is BREATH.
Opera singers learn how to controle their breath so to captivate ours. And I agree with the other less favourable reviews that the opening scene really was a bad example of lip-synching particularly because I could not see ms Jolie breathe!
Of course La Callas lived a glamorous life but to me the focus seemed to be more directed towards the visual in this movie.
This is a film that made me stop watching it to the end, and I am sorry for it. I too had high hopes for these two iconic ladies.

This beauty does not disappoint in its Miyazakiness. It takes you on a new journey so you can sit back, relax, and take in the marvelous fantastical world that this octogenarian has brought us again. Although I do not consider it my personal number one by this master, it did make me yearn to be transported into the luscious green sceneries instantaneously. I admit that there is some symbolism I need to research to get the whole picture. But the main characters were beautifully placed as were the cute japanesy secondary ones. Hurray to mr Miyazaki for painting us a new world out of his imagination so we can travel along and at the end depart to our own journey.
The depth of flavour on this mini-series is amazing!
It is almost like eating a delicious piece of dark chocolate and tastes as clean as a great cup of matcha tea. (bitterness can be beautiful and hopeful)
The sound is rich, captivating almost hypnotising. It gave me a great sense of the monastic aspect of Jedi life.
I also like the tone and tempo very much.
Altho the two main storylines/ characters develop quickly over the six episodes it is neither too quick nor too slow for my taste.
In short, I am a very very happy viewer.
It makes me look forward to the Ahsoka live action series even more!
