Criminally low score... John Cho might have been underutilized here but his presence grounds the entire effort...
In fact the entire cast does a great job and you kinda want more of the secondary stories such as Meredith's and Iris'... this could've been a cool miniseries. However, I understand the choice of going the route of a fairly concise runtime, given the godlike nature depicted by AIA...
... and that's the thing, the parallels between AIA and the Abrahamic God make for a truly frightening supposition considering the 'dataset'.
I really don't understand the cumulative score at all... this is a solid 6.5/10 everyday.

I was convinced that I saw this when it was released but clearly I didn't or I would've been talking about it for years...
It's a simple enough premise as fantastic as it is but it's grounded in the history that surrounds the fantasy, and that's the genius. It treats the history with reverence while not taking itself all too seriously in the fiction department. Think a bit less romp than Van Helsing (2004) but with the same spirit.
Benjamin Walker in the titular role is a great choice and exudes the same charm that presumably captured many in his 2016 outing alongside Teresa Palmer, The Choice. The fact that he's a dead ringer for a younger Liam Neeson just adds tons of sincerity and familiarity.
Great supporting cast that might just as well be ensemble with well thought out set designs and costuming really make for a fun cinematic experience. History buffs with an imagination will be delighted. Think League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)
With Tim Burton on as a producer and Linkin Park on the soundtrack, there was clearly a lot put into this feature and it shows... not for everyone but a solid 7/10.

Anticlimactically, for me, I figured (guessed) the outcome of this effort within the first 5 minutes, similarly to how I did so for Shyamalan's The Village (2004)
I wished I didn't because there was so much more potential to this than what was presented... plus there's the Halle Berry factor, which I hoped would take it to a better place than where we ended...
... sadly not; and I felt robbed due to that alone
All the right elements were there for a successful outing but, even if subtle, the giveaways in the initial dialogue were more than enough to give up the prize without begging... it truly didn't take much but maybe fresher eyes may not see what I did...
Either way, I mean, just watch The Village instead...
5/10.
