I rarely binge watch a TV series. Yellowstone is one of these that I could not stop watching. I have seen only 4 seasons and it is rare to see a TV series where each season is a good the previous one or better. I think what makes the story so good is how well the characters are developed and how well the story, as simple as it is, unfolds. The acting is very good most of the time, the narrative diplays is an excellent balance of romance, bromance, rivalry, revenge and greed and humor and sadness. Yellowstone is a TV series I can only warmly recommend. Finally I discovered Montana, what a beautiful state!
Ok, I am not going to come back on what most reviews already say: Weak scenario, worst cliff hanger. For me watching the fighting scenes was so a total let down. The actors were obviously not prepared at all to performs these choregraphies and it killed what makes this kind of action movie so enjoyable to watch. The moves of the actors lacked the swift, clean execution that only muscle memory gives you through intense training. Repeating over and over these moves that and the all the actors were clearly not fit at all to perform correctly. This indicates only one thing. This movies are done hastily. Usually the actors go through intense training before shooting in these kind of movies. Things done hastily are most of the time messy and you can tell in this case. And if you tell me these actors did do serious practise and training, then they should not be casted for action movies again!
I am French and I really wanted to like this movie BUT. The premise heavily projects "action movie" and its misleading. In fact, the movie wants to stuff in too many genres and it's detrimental to its efficiency to keep the viewer interested. If you want to make an action movie you must mostly focus on that. The rest, thriller, romance, mystery can be present but as back up the main theme/genre of the movie. The major flaw of the movie is the flashback which is way too long, gives an off topic feeling, you lose interest in the plot.
The movie industry in France has only like 400-800 working professionals. And its hard for new comers to enter the club with new, fresh ideas. These guys seems to always want to play it safe so they rely and the same story telling style that I have seen for so many years in France. There is no real innovation in the editing, the acting and the plot. The acting/casting here is a total mess. There are absolutely brilliant actors in France but unless you have the connections/recommendations (piston in French) you have, most of the time, chance to get hired. The acting is atrocious not believable at all, the dialogues are parroted. Don't lose your time.
