  • I don't care what anyone says this movie rocked in 3D

I first saw this when I was a kid back in 1984 in 3D at a theater down the street. Those theaters are called grind houses today but back then we just called them $1 theaters or neighborhood theaters. They usually showed double features, low budget movies, B-movie horror or sex comedies. This one was playing with Amityville 3D and it was only $1.50. I mean, we had it made!!

Anyhow the story is a simple slasher movie that actually had a plot to it. The mom from the Doogie Houser show is trying to figure out why a psycho killer was accidentally released from the nut house she works at. Turns out this guy is beyond crazy and slaughters anyone, but mostly dumb, slow people who cannot just move faster. The kills are amplified in 3D and in the nudity didn't look so bad either. I caught this on you tube and it still was a decent little horror show. You had to have been there to see it in 3D though for a real treat. If you can find it on blu ray in 3D I recommend picking it up and adding to your collection.

  • I must say it's unexpectedly good

I was a fan of the original but the sequels were garbage. Part two did have a weird looking Jack Black in it.

Anyhow when I heard about this one I figured why not. Most horror movies sucked today but maybe a little nostalgic one that was creepy in its time could be creepy again. Surprised to see that yes it is very much creepy and even had me guessing till the very end. In fact, I was surprised at the ending with the whole big reveal theses movies end with.

The big killer reveal has happened since the 80s slasher movie craze back in the day. Here it's no different and the ride it takes you on is pretty gruesome with decent make up effects. The kills are clever, humor, and suspense make this for a fun little slasher movie that makes you jump a few times. People complain about jump scares in killer movies but that's what these movies are known for. I mean the killer could be around the corner or pop up for that last second scare. There's an end credit scene so stick around to the very end.

  • Ignore the haters and see it for yourself!!

I saw a lot of bad reviews on this one which turned me off initially. Then a coworker told me this was a little similar to Gone Girl which was one of my favorite movies with twists and turns. So I figured, why not??

The movie is from Tyler Perry and it actually tells an effective little story complete with a decent mystery reveal in the third act. From the beginning I'll say it had my attention, especially since the movie wastes no time getting into the meat of the story. I actually enjoyed it and thought it was one of the better crime/thrillers to come out these past few years. While it hasn't gotten much love online I'm going to say folks need to see it for themselves because it's a pretty good movie.

If there's one complaint, is the pacing could be better. At 109 minutes, I'd say shave off 5 minutes and you've got an even better movie that could have played in cinemas instead of streaming.

Tyler Perry has taken a subject ripped from the headlines, made an intelligent, strong black female lead, and combined it with a mystery that had me trying to figure out which direction it was taking me. Like I said, the third act is one of the most surprising reveals in a thriller I've seen in a while.

I'm Gona to recommend this movie and say see it for yourself and make up your own mind. It's gotten a lot of hate and quite honestly I don't know why. This is a solid little thriller and I highly recommend it for folks who like a little mystery.
