James Gunn's "Superman" is more than just a typical superhero movie. It's a beautiful, heart-warming reimagining of one of the world's most iconic heroes. This film delivers a perfect balance of classic heroism, storytelling, and hope. Personally, this is the Superman film we've been waiting for since Christopher Reeve donned the cape in "Superman" (1978).

The first thing I can say about this film is that James Gunn's passion for the character and world is seen in every second of this film. Gunn leans into the emotional weight of Superman's journey. From his Kansas farm life to the heavy burden of expectations and conflicts that come with being who he is. Gunn reminds us that it's not Superman's abilities that are his best strength, but his humanity. David Corenswet portrayal of Superman is one with charm, humility and a fresh take of emotional depth that is entirely his own. I love that he is not just trying to save the world but still trying to figure out how to belong in it, by being Superman for only 3 years. David's range in this movie is by far the best performance we've seen of him, and his chemistry with everyone on set feels so natural. What helps to elevate Superman is the support cast, which is stellar across the board. Rachel Brosnahan's Lois Lane is fearless, determined and strong-willed. Her and David time on screen together feels so authentic. Nicholas Hoult's take on Lex Luthor was one I was nervous when I heard of the casting and since then have been happy to be proven wrong, best Luthor since Michael Rosenbaum in Smallville. I don't think I've seen a better casting than Skyler Gisondo for Jimmy Olsen and wish we had more of him. Steals the show every time on screen. The score is triumphant and moving thanks to John Murphy and David Fleming. Taking inspiration from John Williams' original score and adding their own original take adds a lot of heart and depth to every scene. The visuals and CGI are outstanding, never taking the viewer out of it at any moment. By far some of the best the DC has had in a long while.

"Superman" isn't just a film that entertains, it inspires. It reminds us why we love the character so much. James Gunn does a great job honouring the character and paves the way for a new path. If this is what is instore for DC and its future, I can say it's in good hands.

I have to start by saying thank you to Ryan Coogler and everyone involved in making this film. This was so close to being a masterpiece of film making on every level. Story, cinematography, score, sound design, casting and overall tone of the film. Hats off to cast and crew for delivering one of the best original stories we have seen in a while. "Sinners" not only holds the title for best film of the year so far, but definitely has one of the greatest scenes of the past decade. A stunning sequence showcasing a production masterpiece on all fronts. From a cast standpoint, they all were fantastic, especially Michael B Jordan's dual performance which is simply remarkable. However, Jack O'Connell was by far my favourite performance and wish we had juts a bit more of him. The films biggest strength is the use of music, every scene pours out heart and soul in honour of the blues and allows such an immersive experience that pulls you in until the very end. My only complaint would be that the final act felt a bit rushed, the build up was perfectly paced throughout the entire film, only to have the conflict feel like it ended so quickly.

Overall, "Sinners" is a film that kept me on the edge of my seat, filled with beautiful production value and a score that will be stuck in my head for years to come. Can easily see this being rewatched over and over again.

After 7 years since the release of "War for the Planet of the Apes" Wes Ball takes over from Matt Reeves with his new instalment in the Planet of the Apes franchise and did not disappoint. While "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" is a continuation of the recent trilogy, it does a great job at setting up for a new storyline and a new world to be visited. Visually this film is beautiful which is no surprise since the franchise has always been on point when it comes to CGI and set design. The last 30 minutes was the best portion of the film and really helps to push this to a 4/5 for me. Tension, action and emotion topped with a good score is everything one can ask for. Overall I was very pleased to see some of the concepts from the original film return into the new era of franchise and I am so excited to see what's to come next.
