It's not showy or glitzy or particularly dramatic despite the surprising revelations in this documentary. It's quiet and thoughtful. The siblings are kind and have deep affection for each other.
They were all different ages so each story they tell is different. But the message is the same: they were loved and they loved their mother.
We learn what we always learn about young women in show business. They're told their only value is as a sex symbol. It brings them fame and fortune but not respect. And their struggle to break free from the false front that pays the bills always ends in tragedy.

It's got some of my favorite people in it but unfortunately they can't act.
If you compare the humor, writing and acting in this to Mr & Mrs Smith or Black Doves, you understand how awful the acting is. It's at the level of line memorization and nothing more.
Since the 90s actors have really gotten better whereas in the 90s you could be stiff, awkward, forced and a big action star. But when you need emotional resonance none of these actors can deliver it which makes the father-daughter relationship feel unreal. I'll watch it anyway and pretend I'm 15 and it's 1990 and I don't know enough yet to grasp bad acting.

I can't fault the writing, directing or acting. But they desperately needed editing. Since both seasons suffered from the slow pace, I think they could have cut to 8 episodes a season and this would feel more like it was moving forward.
This was highly recommended to me but I have really struggled to get through it. I started speeding past battle scenes because my feeling is they contain no plot and it gets tedious to watch battle after battle after battle.
There's good stuff here and parts I really liked. And as I said the acting, directing and writing is very good. If you're a Star Wars fan maybe you will like it better.
