It's nearly a 9 but with a few things that drag it back.
What's excellent: Directing. Bravo!!! Extremely well planned out and executed(hehe), particularly the action sequences. Original fighting styles and weapons and they are used to perfection by the director.
The design of the predators, their physiques, weaponry, armor or lack of, and fighting styles, all superbly well thought through and executed(hehe).
The characters are all fully fleshed out with their own stories, however unfortunately somewhat chiche.
There is more universe building in this than really all previous predator movies put together. It felt like a lot, maybe too much, as i would rather have had some elements explained further than to pile more on, and the final scene really blew that up. More questions than answers.
What I didn't like was the stoppy animation. The art style was great, but the badly executed(hehe) stop motion look was just ick. The background were smooth, but the characters jagged. I don't understand the reason and I really did not enjoy the look as it detracted from the action when it got fast paced, and the action was superb.
Overall it could have been a 9 from me, but those few things drag it back to an 8/8.5. Overall a great addition to the predator universe.
