I think it's time for Aamir Khan to rethink his approach towards his characters. For me he was the weakest in Sitaare Zameen Par. A good story, great ensemble didn't deliver you the emotions it is meant to. Many scenes of special children give you smile, tears and are heartfelt but Aamir lacks the emotion, the intensity needed for the character. I am feeling strange in writing about his acting skills, but compare his movies before Thugs of Hindustan and after Thugs.
Genelia has not much to offer but still looks good opposite Aamir. The film is not like Taare Zameen Par or 3 Idiots or PK because these films remains with you after watching.

Bad Newz is really bad in execution. A subject which would both be humorous and emotional has failed to deliver the both. The subject like the Akshay staring Good News is bold and challenging to convey the entertainment in it to audience but entire starcast i.e Tripti Dimri, Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk also failed to impress. I guess in the settings provided they didn't get much to deliver but Tripti also fails in scene she was required to excel. At many occasions her pregnancy also looked fake. Supporting cast of parents of all characters are entirely useless in adding anything meaningful to the film.
It's rare to say for a murder mystery but it is a soulful film single handedly carried away by Nawazuddin Siddique on his shoulder. Himalayan setting give the apt atmosphere to the film. It also reminds us after Raat Akeli Hai that how good Nawaz looks as a policeman solving mysteries. Director Anand Surpur has done a wonderful job with the simple script he has in his hand. Rajesh Kumar as Inspector Dimri also add flavor to the film and conversations between him and Nawaz bring humor to the otherwise dull film.
Background story of Negi should be elaborated to the audience for attachment with the character.
