Disney does it again... Continuing their record of unnecessary, bad sequels. They have made another super bad movie with no respect for everyone who loved the first part. This is not Moana 2 but a retcon with the name Moana. The fact that this bad movie has made so much money shows what a bad taste many people have and that is a shame because that gives Disney a reason to continue making worthless movies so a cashgrab for a third movie. This movie really doesn't make sense, there is simply no story, those new characters are worthless and because of that the current characters don't come into their own, and give Moana a sister, what m*ron came up with that what a worthless, unnecessary, not at all fun character. Moana is an only child, the "sister" is a total retcon of a great first movie. Disney really has no ideas anymore, and you can clearly see that in their current movies. For everyone who likes cheap worthless movies without content or story then this is a movie for you. If you like quality films and a good story with nice songs then I would really skip this because you will not find it in this movie.
I saw this for the first time and even though this movie is already 12 years old I find it super bad and inappropriate. Actually it is just a bad copy of another Disney Channel movie Jump in. Literally most of the characters are unbearable and especially Cyrus I was irritated by, who wrote him?, he is arrogant, a coward, egotistical, in a sick way obsessed with Roxie and the way he and his mother treated the father is shame on you. It seems like Disney enjoys teaching teenagers to be disrespectful and to have a dirty mouth towards their parents (in this case the father because the mother was a desperate pleaser). Cyrus was so arrogant that he saw himself as a great rapper but in the final battle against Bling he was not the better his piece made no sense but hey it is and remains a children's film so he had to win even if he was not the better For the rest they have ticked off a standard list that they use for children's films with the usual cliches, predictability, the bully, obsessed with women etc. For children up to 8 years old this will be an entertaining film with some songs but that's it.
I read that this movie is based on books. I haven't read them but I can't imagine that the books are as bad as this story! The first part was already very bad that I thought this can't get any worse but Disney proved me wrong. In the first part I already had trouble with the characters of the twins they were super cringy. In the sequel they are even more one-dimensional. They are supposed to be princesses of Coventry but only one of them is only half concerned with it, the other ignores her origins and is only super focused on her new york life without even looking back at her birth country. This movie takes place 2 years later so you would think that they would know each other and their birth country a bit better but the writers didn't understand that.
What also bothered me about this movie were the following cliché points:
-Father turns out to be still alive (so boring and extremely predictable)
This movie was just extremely predictable that it is boring. Even for a children's movie, I don't think anyone put any effort into this that Disney just thought of easy scoring.
