You had a fantastic opportunity to tell a compelling story about everyday people, plucked out of time, made extraordinary all while loosing everything they knew. You have, scifi, emotional drama, human interest to choose from but you chose political allegory, allegory is being kind... as it's more like a wrecking ball. I'm not bashing for the diversity, I'm bashing for the horrible storyline! Amost 9 episodes and we know as much as we did at episode 1. Let me say it again, 9 hours later and I could have skipped 7 of them. Fan of the original, fan of the casting of the new series. However, I'm wholely disappointed with the script and execution. I always wished they got to finish the story in the original, for this one... I don't think I care.
The premise reminds me of Queen of the South. Dialog and chemistry between characters is pretty good. Thony needs to get some base in her voice is she's going to be barking orders when they have guns and she has a mop. Hopefully the plot develops quickly, After about the third cleanup it will be a little less interesting.
I wanted to like it, I came in with no knowledge of the characters. I was pretty disappointed halfway through and pretty sure I'd not watch another episode by the end. I found the story to be rushed, within minutes we meet the whole cast and a get a glimpse into their angsty relationships. The environment seems so artificial to the point that you know this town couldn't exist even in the comics. (go visit an actual military base town in middle america.) The dialogue is clumsy and the characters seem to only be there to tell Naomi how great she is or be apart of her four-way entanglement...
