  • One time watch, could have been much better

Paresh Mokashi is a director with proven track record of absolute masterpiece filmography.

So when I got to know that Paresh Mokashi is making a movie based on his old play set in a village in kokan with world war 2 as backdrop and Prashant Damle as Hitler, I was excited.

But sadly, all the excitement couldn't make me enjoy the movie. Something felt off. Casting Damle as Hitler was a genius move. Mangle, Ingle were fabulous too. But the Mokashi touch was missing.

It didn't felt like adaptation of a play into movie, it felt like only as a play filmed for big screen. It never transformed to a movie. Some scenes were too long, as if we are actually watching a play and it will take time to change the sets so scene were purposely shot in long duration. Damle's role was very small too, almost felt like a cameo. Majority of humour also didn't land very well this time.

The cinematography and set felt very fresh. Costumes were good too. Still it felt like movie had lot to offer but didn't utilise its full potential.

I hope this was a side project for Paresh Mokashi while he is working on another masterpiece.

  • A finely crafted masterpiece. A new direction for Marathi Cinema.

I must say Ghaath is one of the boldest and authentic Indian film I have ever seen. Right from the beginning even when there weren't any dialogues for few minutes, I was transported directly to Deori, Gondia where the story takes place.

The film revolves around motives and struggle of police, naxalites and civilians in a conflict ridden area. The characters and their motivations feels very real. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like fiction. I don't think that any other movie has portrayed Naxalite-Maoist insurgency like this, with so much sincerity.

Jitendra Joshi always surprises me with what he is able to do. I genuinely believe he is one of the best, if not the best Marathi actor of all time. Milind Shinde was perfectly cast for the role of Raghunath, and I believe Suruchi gave her career best performance. Every actor, be it for main or side role gave excellent performances.

What surprised me the most about this movie is that it didn't just shine in terms of story, screenplay, acting, and dialogue; it also excelled in its technical aspects. Cinematography, sound design, real location shoots, action, gunfire scenes were top level. I mean this movie shows that if we want we can definitely make world class cinema.

And now about captain of the ship, Chhatrapal Ninawe. He is the reason behind all of the above factors which I liked about this movie. With his first directional venture, he has shown that he has arrived. I'm eager for his next projects. And next time I'll make sure to watch his movie in theatre, no matter what.

  • An ordinary story of life turned into an Extraordinary movie!

"Naach Ga Ghuma" is everyday life story of ordinary people turned into an extraordinary art!

The premise is simple but the dialogues, direction, acting, comedy, drama & production quality is top notch. Story has heart, it will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you think. But most importantly it will make you forget everything and will capture you from start to end.

What I love about Paresh Mokashi & Madhugandha Kulkarni is that they never create a story just for a movie. They create a world for their each story and show us just 2 hours of that world. So it feels like these characters existed before the movie and will remain after the movie...we just saw a glimpse of their life.

And Mukta Barve, we always knew you are the best. But you proved once again why you are the BOSS! Its good to see you finally getting your due on silver screen. We want more of this!

Thank you "Naach Ga Ghuma" team for this amazing treat! Waiting for more!
