  • 10 Minutes of my life that I'll never get back.

So disappointing. The story line appeared to have promise - the show has none whatsoever. You may need to watch 10 minutes of it, just to vindicate my harsh judgement of it.

As an avid Trekkie, I feel sad that I have to tip a bucket on it. This is a puerile spin-off and while the acting appears awful, I think it is likely due to a problem of character development. It starts with a light-hearted, juvenile atmosphere and misses the mark entirely. This is not for a thinking sci-fi fan, and whether or not it is for anybody, only time will tell. I'd have to come from another dimension to believe that a second season should hit our screens. How it got past a pilot episode, I do not know.

  • Hollywood Hype

Graphically, this movie does attract your attention. The rest is fairly drab and dour however. A slow and largely hackneyed plot that reaches no great heights but never quite scrapes the bottom of the barrel.

It is described as a romantic, dark fantasy and I think this should have prompted me to lower my expectations. It's a chic flick disguised as something else, though I must say - even my wife rues the loss of two hours and three minutes of her life.

I would class it is a 'mystery movie'. The mystery being - why was it made, how did it win the 'Best Picture' award at the Oscars and why did I waste my time watching it?

  • Diverse Views Disguise Classic British Comedy

It has been so many years since I saw this but I do feel compelled to defend this gem against those who lambast it.

It is interesting and unusual to observe the diversity of opinion here. That is what humour does I suppose. It is subjective. It either charges through your funny bone at 60,000 volts or it leaves you cold and wondering why you gave it the time.

This show has some of Britain's best comic actors put together in a story that is silly and irreverent and the outcome is hilarious. The dialogue and visual comedy is beautifully delivered and the two leads (Cleese and Lowe) are superb together. This was made for them.

I can't really say anymore other than to implore you to find this and watch it. You won't be disappointed and in a world devoid of genteel humour, this is a classic inane and harmless piece of comedic brilliance.
