I felt that Goran overacted, some of the costumes looked like they were borrowed from braveheart, as well as some of the cast and dialogue. The movie failed to peak my imagination and keep me interested. I give this movie....... a big yawn. Crassus was played by the same actor as Robert the Bruce, and played his part well. I thought that the movie did not capture the spirit of those who faught and died for their freedom, it did not fully convey the heartache and disappointments. Jim Caviesel would have been a better Spartacus. There was not enough of the relationship between Crassus and Spartacus and why Crassus wanted him defeated. There also wasn't much of the jealousy Cassus had for Pompey.
The special Effects were awesome and the story line flowed very well. Ron Perlman's performance as HellBoy was fantastic, just as he was magnificent as Vincent in the series Beauty and the Beast. Selma Blair and John Hurt did well in their parts too. The director and screenplay writer are to be commended. I am hoping that there will be a sequel and that the relationship between Lizz Sherman and Hellboy will be explored, as well as how she got her powers and how Abe Sapien was found. I can't wait for this movie to come out on DVD, it would be interesting to see what was deleted and how they came up with some of the effects. I also am interested in how the actors felt about their characters.
Not being with your children on a daily basis is hard, take it from someone who knows. This movie illustrates how much the love of ones children will inspire a non custodial parent to do whatever it takes to be involved in the daily lives of his kids and grow as a human being because of it. This movie should serve as an inspiration to all, that no matter what, seemingly impossible odds can be overcome and that if we think about the good of the children and not ourselves, that things will turn out much better.
