Where the Truth Lies just doesn't flow and it is due to some poor casting. Alison Lohman is a fine actress, but she doesn't seem mature enough for the part of the investigative reporter (Karen). When meeting with Colin Firth (Vince) in a restaurant it almost seems like a father/daughter discussion. Kevin Bacon is a good actor, although someone with a bit more physical attraction could have been charming as well as being sleazy. Rachel Blanchard does well, but when talking to Bacon as the hotel room service attendant she has a bit of a Canadian accent, although the hotel is in Florida.

Colin Firth and David Hayman(Reuben the butler)do well. One does wonder how either could be that dedicated to the womanizing Lenny (Bacon)? Rebecca Davis (Denise)has a small part as the public relation person for the telethon, who gets "plugged" by Bacon the day before. Dedicated to her job she tells Maureen (Blanchard) that any interview with Lenny will have to come through her while displaying full frontal nudity.

Where the Truth Lies is entertaining, but you come away feeling like you drove a bumpy road.

I generally find some good in most films, but this one would be a real stretch. I think it is more the characters than anything else that are annoying. Some of the accents are pretty hard to take. It would have been better if they had all died in a plane crash on the way to the island.

The most annoying, from my standpoint, would be the two photographers. They are just too too hard to take. These two clowns are introduced early working in a studio with a French model. The scene does not make sense, the accents are hard to understand, but the saving grace is getting to watch Eva Derreck stand there in front of them completely nude.

In addition much of the humor is lame and crude, particularly the "booty" scene.

Femalien II can best be described as "camp." You have to really want to see it, but become mystified enough to follow it to the end of the trip.

Probably the best scene for me, would be the opening when the two aliens find themselves in somebody's backyard. I don't know whose yard it is, but I was impressed by the acting ability of the female lead who is more concerned with her hair, than finding herself totally nude, while rapping with her male escort. After a heavy dialog (?) she leads the way into the house as we watch her walk away bare assed.

What follows is a cast of characters that help welcome this duo to earth.
