Katharine Hepburn: All About Me

  • how could anytihng about kate the great not be fascinating?

People love Katharine Hepburn, she is an icon of a century of Women. Sweet, entertaining, silly, happy, sad, uncooth, sultry, cool, aloof, enduring, abrupt and amazing, only a few words that could be used to describe her or the charachters she portrays.

For so many years she has shyed away from attention, from the public, so why now break that silence? At eighty-five years Miss Hepburn is still, a "show-off" and wants to show off her work once again. She tells us the story of her life, her family, her films, her loves and her hates. She really is an extraordinary woman, and this film proves that, again.

When you see it you feel a great deal of warmth towards this woman, and you begin to know her, although you come away with the sensation that you don't really know her at all. I for one am very interested in this lady, her life enthralls me, her films entertain me and her personality bewitches me. She is the greatest actress that has ever appeared on film. I, like many would give anything to meet this woman, and although it is unlikely that I will ever have that pleasure I am happy to say this film, put me one step nearer, it elaborates on half stories you may have heard and when she tells you something you believe her.

  • "its a gay romantic fling, if you like that sort of thing"

Enchanting and captivating are two words to describe this wonderful lerner-lowe collaboration. A musical in every sense of the word its happy, charming, emotional and contains some truly brilliant performances, none more so that the wonderful Mr Chevailier who steals this seem with his charming lechery. Although the singing of Miss Caron is dubbed she puts in the performance of a lifetime to be Gigi. I feel those who thought a Certain Miss Hepburn would be better in the role are badly mistaken, for she is sweet and charming, everything the immortal Gigi should be.

Herimone Gingold is wonderful as Grandma and Jourdan is terribly handsome and suave as Gaston. Even a Gabor, the more talented Eva shines in this because there simply is not a bad moment, as for Jaques Bergerac (Mr Ginger Rogers) his role may be small, but he sure is handsome.

The score is 100 percent, The parisians is my personal favourite number, the title number is beautiful, thank heavens for little girls has become a standard, she is not thinking of me is a knockout and the night they invented champagne is wonderful, my only regret? So little dancing for the greatly talented Miss Caron.

  • classy, classic comedy

this film sparkles like champagne. Okay the plot is flimsy, not to mention corny, but the magnetism and chemistry that goes on between Tracy and Hepburn is enough to keep you enthralled for hours. The dialogue is witty and snappy, and there are many hilarious moments not to be missed. It's lovely to see such an old fashioned fun movie that makes you laugh and cry at the same time. The most wonderful moment in the film has got to be when they kiss for the first time, it's wonderful, and you can feel the warmth between them.
