In short, this movie is proof that all the special effects in the world will never make up for the lack of a decent plot and acting. Those who've seen it can't disagree with the pathetic nature of
Morpheus' speech, the blatant efforts to make this "the Star Wars of the new millenium" (complete with Ewok-like parties, and council members' meetings). Let me continue, the exchange between Neo and the counselor "I see, we need the machines and they need us, is that your point?", the cheesy "Baby I wanna see more of you at home", "Sorry, I'm doing this for all of us" scene seemed almost racist to me, I dunno, I saw this 3 days ago and I'm still annoyed that I threw my money away. They should have left it at number one.

No need to waste your time, skip this unhappening letdown of a movie, Claire Denis is capable of so much more, as shown in (at least) Trouble Every Day, that watching this movie made me upset. All haters of French cinema for the "lack of action" should consider using this "movie" as their pick, truly nothing happens. It's all very nice to make human movies, picturing things as we probably retain them in our non-cinematographic heads, but this is ridiculously lacking in the value department. Cannot believe this was based in actual writing. I insist, don't even bother, this was the last movie I watched at the SFIFF'03 and as such it couldn't have been more representative of the general disappointment that I felt.
One keeps waiting for this movie to make a final turn that will somehow make it relevant or appealing, but no such thing ever happens. Can't believe the awards and the great reviews given to this complete disappointment. I'm all for French movies and I would not measure anything by Hollywood standards, but I think any average flick provides more entertainment than this film. "Trouble every day" is at least ten times a better movie.
