With a reported budget of $10 million, I wonder how much of that was just blown on the actors. Apart from a bunch of them parading aimlessly for 90 minutes and talking lines that don't amount to even a shadow of a story, there is nothing in the film that shows this budget. Worst of all is that we are presented with ridiculous monsters that look like black kittens - zero scares, zero thrills. Additionally, many of the actors seems to have genuine difficulty acting in English and would talk slowly or make exaggerated movements as they spoke. Painful to watch. I cannot understand why someone thought this sorry excuse for a story should be made into a movie but it was a mistake and the resulting product in terrible in every aspect. I very much discourage you from spending any money on this.
If you allow yourself a moment to gauge the past few Star Trek movies, you will notice that Treks number 5, 7, and 9 have been rather flat and overly dramatic. However, Treks number 6, 8, and now 10 are action movies which reach entertainment levels seldom seen in the franchise. Star Trek Nemesis is a return to good old-fashioned action science-fiction, with a well-written script, decent screen time for most of the crew, and improved special effects. A thoroughly enjoyable movie at all levels!
