I don't have much to say. There is so much furor over this episode and hatred for the fifth season. I know these are reviews, but so much commentary is so abrasive. I guess, if there are thousands of reviews, it must be pulling people in. I've always been interested in people who criticize writers for shows like this. Imagine the incredible demands.
Yes, there are way too many characters, but there are so many story lines, both good and bad. We have lived with these characters forever and we want what's best for them.
That aside, I'm still trying to figure out what is happening. What is "the plan"? I will watch the last episode, be totally engaged, and remember this one. It is undoubtedly one of the most mind bending things I've ever seen.

I am captivated by every moment of this show. Hanging in for five seasons as an old man but a lifetime science fiction reader and viewer, this has held my attention, even when I got lost along the way. The tiresome romantic angles and jealousy are the only things that bore me (hence the loss of a point). This one continues the darkness and introduces forces that need to be there to overcome the evil entities that want domination. I am now clear on what the aliens want and how they are trying to get it. I'm in for the duration and know I won't be disappointed.
We always need to remember the Asian cultures' need for respect. This plays a nasty game when two brothers cheat one of their own by misrepresenting themselves and the law.
Attorney Woo's friend, whose father is the victim, gets her to return to the firm. She ultimately takes the case, but it is not easy because there is duplicity. Evidence is hard to find.
At times this one gets pretty silly, but overall it works pretty well.

Demi Moore was pretty good here. Her character finds herself in such need of attention that as an aging start, she is willing to do anything to keep the adulation. So, without anything but hope that "the substance" works, she throws herself into it.
Then it becomes a horror movie. Her alter ego, Sue, has no commitment to keeping things on the level and destroys herself and Moore in the process.
The movie is filled with ugliness and selfishness. I was repulsed by the whole thing, and I am not a prude.

One of the reviewers who did not like this film felt that it was a weak documentary. It was simply scene after scene of destruction, not explaining where, when, or how. I would contend that it must be that way because it is never ending. The visuals show us the pain. We don't need a pompous narrator interpreting. If what is shown is accurate, and I have no reason to doubt that, then the images speak for themselves.
I'm always amazed by people who are able to film in the middle of deadly conflicts while we sit back and observe and judge.
This is a masterful work that, unfortunately, will do little to stop what is going on.

Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin bring real chops to this film. I'm sure it's not for everyone. I liked the double meaning of the title. We have Culkin's character, who could be a real pain. Then we have the overwhelming sadness of the Jews in Poland who experienced real pain. The portrayal is gentle and subtle. One reviewer wanted a deep connection to develop between the principles. But remember what a short time they had together. Things are not resolved quickly in real life. I thought that there was a future after their departures. It's one of the better films I've seen in a long time.
After seeing a great many Academy Award films, including the winners, I have come to the realization that I am a poor judge of films (if the powers that be are the judges). This is another time that I was intrigued by the hoopla. I finally watched the film and found it to be an intense much ado about nothing. I had no sympathy for a single character, the things that they do seem perverse, and the result is not engaging. I plodded on through thinking something would happen, and it just fizzled.
The nudity was even boring.

This is a remarkable film which involves the conclave needed to choose a new Pope. The plot aside, I really enjoyed the inside events and obstacles needed to make this major choice. We are let in on the politics involved and the types of things needed to find favor with those who make the decisions. Ralph Fiennes is excellent. Of course, much of it is low key, but there is a tension running through that makes it hard not to get involved as a viewer.
I see there are a couple of naysayers out there. How can one watch such an intense, non-stop engaging story and complain about the writing. Interestingly, it has a 9.6 overall rating from viewers. Gee. They must have seen a different show.
I'm an old guy and wary of contemporary sci fi action films. I've been watching this from the outset and have been utterly involved. I love how people complain about the realism. Folks, this show and its ilk are not real. They are fiction. How those fictions are presented is what it's all about and this one is masterful. It would be like complaining about Jaws because no shark has ever done what that one does. Sharks should be happy just to swim around and eat other fish! No swimmers! It's just not realistic. I've always enjoyed a movie where fish just swim around doing nothing.
The pacing here is great, and the underlying threat is there all the time. Yes, there are narrow escapes, but what do you want. Have all the kids get killed in the first episode.
I can't wait for Christmas to watch this all play out.

Of course this whole thing is fantasy. It is wonderful, dynamic fantasy. The kids are dealing with things beyond them, but because they are creative gamers, they come up with amazing stuff to counteract evil.
In this one we have Hopper and El down under, confronting the military and trying to get information. The military obviously want El because the military in these types of shows has no moral sense. Do they want to use her as a weapon or just throttle her?
The stuff delivered by the guy with the truck all comes into play. How could they know they needed water balloons? We shouldn't ask. We should just enjoy the ride.
