I have just returned after being at the first European showing of this film at the Bergen International Film Festival. What can I say? This is one the best films I have seen in a long time. It's great. It mixes a tribute to Italian cooking with a mafia storyline. Brilliant. A must see!
The film starts off so promising, but after a while Enid's socalled rebellion becomes tiresome. She refuses to move unlike the other characters, and I felt, especially the last half hour, that she was just pi**ing me off, ruining other peoples life who had actually decided to do something with themselves. Frustrating and boring movie overall if you ask me. But I never liked American Beauty either...
This film I saw when I was very young about 12 and it scared me. Now 9 years later it still scares me as a thriller. It is unlike normal Norwegian films. This is probably the best Norwegian movie of all time. I think it portrays the Norwegian-Russian (Soviet) relationship during the Cold war in a very believable way. And other aspects of the film make us go along with it.
