  • Good movie for people of all ages

Interesting story in a picturesque and modern setting. Rose McIver and Ben Lamb were very good and all the others did their roles very well too. Photography was excellent and added to the beauty of the scenes. Light-hearted film, overall, but it did have it's serious moments too. A very good option indeed for family viewing.

  • Unique storyline - and the first Hindi movie of a famous director

An interesting movie ! The story revolves around a house which is let out by the house-owner ( David ) to a series of tenants - all of whom stay for a little while, let the viewers into their lives and then leave. The movie sports some big names - though they do not appear together. Suchitra Sen is part of a runaway couple who are the first tenants. When they leave, the next set includes Kishore Kumar, Nasir Hussain and Nirupa Roy. The final set of tenants involves Usha Kiran and Dilip Kumar. And thus, one can imagine the story to continue forever ....

Kishore Kumar sings a famous, lively song 'munna bada pyaara'. The movie also has a rare song sung by the famous actor Dilip Kumar.

All in all, an interesting story, well directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee who has made several great Hindi films like Anari, Asli Naqli, Anupama, Anuradha, Anand, Guddi, Golmaal, Bawarchi etc. Definitely worth seeing.

  • Essential viewing for all Alec Guinness fans

Alec Guinness acts as an elderly, influential Japanese businessman in this romance / comedy / drama set in the background of the aftermath of World War II .

When you see this film, you will, not for a minute, imagine that Mr. Koichi Asano (played by Alec Guinness ) is anything other than Japanese - so complete is the effort put in by this great actor.

Superb acting from both Alec Guinness and Rosalind Russell and a unique background of Japanese culture make this a very memorable movie.

A 'must' for all Alec Guinness fans !
