Dean Stockwell plays the title character, a Mexican teen who witnesses the lynching of his beloved father while they are sleeping on a trail. The motives of the three men who did the hanging are not revealed until a plot twist late in the story. The first problem with this episode is the casting of Stockwell, a 22-year-old American actor who is not believable as a Mexican teen-ager. The plot does have potential, but the script misses the mark; it includes an Indian attack on the wagon train that feels out of place and is unnecessary. It's unfortunate, because the story could have focused more on the themes of revenge and redemption.
John Drew Barrymore shines as the charismatic creep who joins the train and puts everyone on edge, especially two suspicious drifters and a young mother escaping an abusive husband. He saves the life of wagonmaster Seth Adams, but something still seems off. Eventually we learn about his motives. There is a nice twist at the end that wraps everything up. One of the better episodes of this long-running series.
