  • Predictable but entertaining.

Came across movie by chance on Turner Classics. Joe Tyme takes to drink. Man loses wife, man, etc. etc. etc. Could have been a better story if more focus on Joe Tyme and his inability to cope with his problems. However, entertaining, light musical is really the genre of this picture despite the dark side.

  • Best Astaire dancing plus class.

Have watched it over and over especially when Astaire dances with the fire crackers. Some shows within the movie could be considered tacky but somehow the cast holds it all together. Too bad it was filmed during WWII and it isn't in color. Black and white makes it too much of a period piece while color would update it. I'm not against colorization of certain pictures especially musicals. Holiday Inn is a holiday away from everything you want to leave behind.
