As far as Irène Jacob is concerned, yes, the title fits the movie perfectly ('Youth Mistake' in French). It's pretentious, highly BORING, and typically the kind of film an actor does before he/she gets really famous. This was pre-la Double Vie de Véronique. Still you can always check for Irène-idiosyncracies such as the hand-between-the-neck-and-the-shoulder within the 4-minute screentime she's allowed. Oh and the main character finds out he's in love with her at the end of the film. Funny, cos he's never met her. Oh, and there's also Gaspard Manesse (who played Julien in Au revoir, les enfants) at the end. He was better-looking when he played the junior-high-kid-who's-in-love-with-Irène.
The quintessential Ingrid Bergman movie! Alright, maybe not. But she's great, she's fun, and her 15-minute sequence is hilarious. The story (if I can call it that...) is so so dumb, but what's great is that it gives you the opportunity to watch Ingrid at home running after a chicken and speaking in Italian. It's a gem. Watch it!
