  • One of the Greatest Comedy's of all time.

This is how high-brow, slapstick, one-liner comedy is supposed to be. Today, filmmakers think they can throw silly sight gags and bathroom jokes our way and make them work. The Marx Brothers proved that their was method to their madness. Sadly some people who watch these films today just don't get it...and they never will. "Duck Soup" is their masterpiece with satirical and ironic humor mixed in with perfectly timed antics. Their comedy is like a ballet. WARNING: Those who fancy Pauly Shore, Adam Sandler, and Tom Green are beyond help and will never rise to the Marx Brothers level. Maybe that's why the first review left for this film bothered me so much. If that person could not see the brilliance throughout this film, they have no buiness critiquing movies.

  • Disappointing and dull with an uninspired turn by Basinger.

The story is dull and lackluster but the biggest disappointment is in Kim Basinger's performance. She sleepwalks through the part. Her job is to be convincing, instead she seems like she is acting. Vincent Perez fairs better. However, his energy is wasted in his scenes with Basinger. She just seems like she would rather be anywhere than in this movie. Towards the end she does come through a little better but, by then it's too late to save the film.

  • Finally a gay-oriented film that has great crossover appeal.

TRICK ranks among the best romantic comedies to hit the big screen in a long time. It has everything: humor, warmth, great performances, and well rounded characters. The twist is that it features gay characters in the lead roles. Christian Campbell plays a young composer who falls in lust with the sexy muscle go-go dancer boy he sees on the Subway. The rest of the film centers on the two trying to find a place to be alone. In a supporting role, Tori Spelling is surprisingly good as Campbell's loud friend. This is a film that may be gay-oriented but is perfect for anyone who enjoys a well written comedy.
