Every freaking episode consists of endless and stupid bloodshed. And because the writers/directors/producers also get tired of it, every 15 minutes there's some kind of 'erotic' scene. It all really is utterly annoying. There is no story! It's made for 10 to 14 year olds.
So-called production value is fine, but again, it all is empty.
And why do all those Viking warriors never wash the blood of their faces - even when they camp next to some lake with the cleanest water.
Acting is generally ok, nothing really special but OK.
The problem is that after hours and hours of watching one is left with nothing ....

June Squibb as the lead is the best part of this production, Parker Posey the worst and all the others are somewhat in-between bad acting and overacting alas, the director didn't seem to be on top of it. It's neither 'charming' nor 'cute', it's just trying to milk a genre, and well, it's not working.
So it's supposed to be a fairy tale and I don't quite understand for what audience..?
For elderly people who might take it as a 'romantic comedy' - alas it's more like a film for maybe 10 year olds, bordering as being insulting to so-called 'elderly' people.
Well, as I said, trying hard, way too hard to milk something out of it.

Yeah, well, super super-lame and as often it begins with the script and then a bunch (actually all of them) annoying characters being constantly passive aggressive. Alas they're not acting this way, they are like that!
I happen to like Alan Alda but his cameo appearance was a mis-step, what for was that? Being cute?
So we have here a stretched version if the 'original' which was a failed attempt to do an American version of a French comedy of manners by Jean Renoir...Rules of the game.
That's from 1939 - a much more modern work. With not one cartoonish character in sight. So, be warned - not worth the time....
