  • Same old plot with gorier killing scenes

It definitely was not in the same level as First Blood but at least it was somewhat of an improvement over Rambo 3. What about the plot? He Sly waits all these years, turns down good parts and comes up with yet another "let's rescue the Americans from an Asian country?!! They could certainly have thought of some slightly more original or at least not done to death. There's really hard to comment on this one: on one hand they did well on what they were trying to accomplish which seems to be the clichéd story line with awesomely action packed battle scenes. On the other hand there is not much else to recommend this flick. You were waiting for a repeat of the old stuff then I wouldn't miss it, but if you had been hoping for even the smallest improvement then you can wait for DVD or at least the second run theater showing of it.

  • Hard as he might try Martin made J.C. look pathetic not funny.

I admit that it was a substantial improvement on the god-awful "Son of Pink Panther", but Hollywood forcing another P.P. movie on us that's inexcusable. I'd always known that Martin would never be a Sellers, and went to see it with that in mind and too high of a hope, but even so choices he made like that stupid lisp or the accent he cannot make it work or scenes of low dramatic quality of him sitting depressed and looking pathetic (something you never find in the older ones) made this movie even less funny and generally enjoyable for me.

One of the comments mentioned that we need to face that Sellers is dead, and I definitely agree with that. But instead of just letting everyone of our comedians take a deadly stab at it, we should bury the tha character in a time capsule with our dearly departed actor until that day when we have genius that caliber with the right feel for the Det. J.C.

I recommend seeing "Curse of Pink Panther" over this one. It was done right in the Ibsen's of Sellers with Ted Wass not replacing him but tracing his steps.

  • See this one in 3D or do yourself a favor and skip it altogether!

I was one of the somewhat fortunate ones to see this in LACMA in 3D: it showed that how much time and attention did they put on technical aspects of the film, particularly the camera angles which makes this one probably the biggest accomplished 3D movie ever made (even better than that classic "Captain E.O.").

But on the other hand it also points to the fact that 3D was the only thing they cared about while shooting this film and they couldn't care less about the plot developement which was very jumpy, and the acting, specially by Udo Kier as Frankenstein was just rediculously idiotic and the dialogs delivered accordingly.

So in a nutshell it's 3D or never for this masterpiece!!!
