  • Watch it for the kids!

Luckily, a kind user of YouTube uploaded the English subbed version of this series so that people like me can watch them and I have to say that I'm enjoying every single episode!

Each character is well played by splendid actors. You can't help but to fall in love with Kazumi and her "Despite everything, I believe people are good at heart" attitude. Yuki Amami's "Maya" is positively scary and will make you glad that you didn't have a teacher like her when you were in the 6th grade. If you did have a teacher like her, you may not want to watch this show or you'll have to sign up for therapy. What's really amazing about this show are the super-talented kids - they're not background actors and actresses to a few star classmates. Their characters have their own personalities that make a major contribution to the show and the kids do an excellent job of bringing them out.

I haven't finished the series yet, but I'm going through the episodes like crazy. Each one will have you avoiding studying (like me) or working so you can find out what will happen next. "The Queen's Classroom" - great actors, great writing, great show. Watch it and fall in love like I did!

  • Not a Complete Waste

I had a lot of negative expectations about this "White man come to save the poor Indians" movie going into it, but there were quite a few things in it that surprised me. While I won't be telling my friends that this is a must-see movie, I don't feel like I wasted my money.

The movie is based on a legend (which in themselves aren't known for historical accuracy) so there was no need to expect the History Channel version of the tale. The beginning was pretty much as I expected (Viking boy rescued by Indian woman, comes to be part of Indian people) and I thought the violence would be never-ending. Once more dialogue developed between the remaining characters and things sort of "calmed down", the story turned into a real survival tale that grabs and holds your attention, even if it's not Academy Award material.

The thing I really hated about some of the fight scenes in the beginning were that they were filmed in a way that you could not really see or understand some of the things that had just occurred. You know somebody got killed or sliced really bad, but it was hard to tell where or sometimes how. Some of the shots were so close to their subjects, they were a blur. The acting didn't strike me as being cheesy. I thought most of the performances were OK and Karl Urban made you feel for his character.

Overall, it's not the best action flick out there, but there things in the plot that aren't totally predictable which makes pretty decent.

  • See The Movie Yourself & Form Your Own Opinion

While I haven't seen all of the Tyler Perry plays, I must admit that this film is a whole lot better than I thought it was going to be. That's my opinion though. I also think the negative opinions about it haven't been totally fair. I suggest to anyone reading about this movie to see it and form your opinion. There are some things I think one should take into consideration before watching it:

    1) Make yourself familiar with the plays. It will help you, for the most part, in knowing what to expect. Keep in mind that the plays were geared toward black, Christian audiences. However, the overall message is one to which people of all races and religions can relate.

    2) If you're looking for "The Madea Show", be prepared for disappointment (this also relates to making yourself familiar with the plays). She is the most well-known character in the plays and movie, but the story does not center around her. She does play an important part in the main character's development as well as lend some comic relief. I personally did not think she was as funny in the movie as she is in the plays, but I'm glad Tyler Perry played her character to ensure it was done right.

    3) Put away the hangups about race, if you have any. In case you didn't know, the cast is predominantly black. If you love a movie with a good message, the race of the people in it shouldn't be a problem. I, for one, have been disappointed at the state of black cinema recently (unintelligent scripts, catering to stereotypes, etc.), but I consider this movie to be a positive standout based on its overall message rather than a few of its characters. It wasn't made to be turned into something political. It should be enjoyed for what it is--a story.

Taking those things into consideration should help anybody see the movie for what it is without holding it up to a preconceived notion. You may still watch it and not believe it was good or as good as it could've been. You may, on the other hand, watch it and come away with a good message like I did--which is what I believe Tyler Perry wanted.
