  • Great Cartoon Show, One of Disney's Best

When DuckTales first hit the airwaves, I was only six years old, and it immediately became one of my favorite cartoon shows. DuckTales was basically the Disney Cartoon show that started the great trend in serials produced by the company including Gummi Bears, Chip n' Dale's Rescue Rangers, and Tale Spin. While all of these shows were very enjoyable, DuckTales was, in my opinion, the best of the bunch. The writing was interesting and exciting, the dialogue was oftentimes hilarious, and you just had to love all of the characters, including the Beagle Boys. Scrooge's interaction with Huey, Dewey, and Louie was great, but the character who basically stole the show was Launchpad McQuack; a bumbling pilot trying to play the hero with hilarious results. As seems to be the trend with great cartoon shows, DuckTales sadly seemed to lose a little bit of the magic toward the end of its run. Occasionally some of the latter episodes were enjoyable, but they just couldn't compare to the earlier episodes. Still, the Gizmoduck miniseries is one of my all time favorites. After DuckTales and the other first era Disney Afternoon shows went into reruns, the company never really produced shows that were as fun to watch. Goof Troop, Darwking Duck, and Bonkers just seemed to be missing something, and Aladdin made the wonderful characters from the movie seem tedious and tiresome. But I digress. DuckTales was one of the best cartoon show's Disney ever produced in the late 80's-90's era, and it may very well have been the very best if not for Gargoyles (which was just in a league of its own in my opinion.) Anyway, I still love watching the episodes I have on tape and grabbing on to some Ducktales, Woo-ooh.

  • Ragin' Anti-Climax?

Wrestlemania XV didn't live up to my expectations, which is not very surprising given that some of the show was haphazardly booked. I mean, pushing Road Dogg to the IC title and Gunn toward the Hardcore title made no sense given the opposite build up that had been going on for weeks (not to mention the fact that Road Dogg is NOT IC title material.) HHH still hadn't found himself, though his match with Kane was pretty good. X-Pac's bout with Shane was surprisingly enjoyable and one of the best matches of the night. The women's title match and the brawl for all were horrible, but hey, what were you expecting? The tag-title match made no sense, and the Hell in a Cell match was just plain abysmal. Still Austin and Rock put on a good, solid main event, though they would outdo themselves a month later. After first buying this PPV, I felt like I had wasted my money, but in retrospect, it wasn't horrible. Still, definitely not a great PPV by Wrestlemania standards. Do yourself a favor and watch X and VIII, for some truly memorable Wrestlemania action.

  • Awful

I really should have known better, I suppose. The commercials looked corny, and the reviews I had read were really bad. Still, I was dumb enough to go and see this "film," if you want to call it that, and it was truthfully the only movie I've ever seen that made me want to get up and leave the theater. I sat through the whole thing however, and watched two of my favorite actors in Sean Connery and Ralph Fiennes make fools of themselves. I can't even express how bad this movie was. There was practically no plot, the special effects were unimpressive and loud, the dialogue was corny, and I only wish I could remember all the things that didn't make sense (Teddy Bear costumes?) I'm considering renting it sometime to play MST3K, but I'm not sure I'd be able to sit through it again.
